TCI Trainers

TCI Trainer Recertification Option

Current TCI7, TCIS2 or TCIF4 Trainers can use attendance at the Building Caring Communities 2025 conference as their recertification Update. Trainers will be required to attend sessions for every timeslot of the conference, as well as complete a knowledge test prior to the conference and an assessment of any physical skills that are part of their certification.

In order to meet requirements, trainers will need to:

  • complete a virtual knowledge test during the 2 weeks prior to the conference, at one of the set times available
  • attend in-person on the 10th June to be assessed in physical skills between lunchtime and 4pm
  • register at each session attended at the conference to demonstrate participation

It is a trainers’ responsibility to participate in all aspects indicated. Trainer recertification depends on all of these aspects and will only be granted if the trainer successfully completes the requirements for knowledge testing, physical skills (if applicable) and full attendance. Recertification will be confirmed within 4 weeks post-conference by receipt of a new Certification Letter via email.

This recertification will last for the period of time as governed by your local authority. For instance, in Australia, Canada, Israel, and most of the USA it will be for a 2 year period. For the UK and New York State, for 1 year.

Frequently Asked Questions

As long as you do not need to train TCI between your certification expiring and when you receive a renewed certification letter, that is fine.

Please note that it is until you receive a new certification letter – which could be up to 4 weeks after the conference.

If you are concerned that you may need to train prior to this time, you will need to either:

  • Attend an earlier Update (details available on the TACT website)
  • Contact the RCCP via Holly Smith to request an extension to your certification. Extensions are for up to 90 days.

There is no additional fee to use the conference for recertification, however, trainers must complete the additional registration through the RCCP and fulfill all the requirements such as knowledge assessment prior to the conference and physical skills assessment on Tuesday 10 June.

Testing must happen prior to the conference. There will not be opportunities to test after the conference. If you cannot attend one of the times available, contact the organization supporting TCI in your area: TACT or the RCCP with advance notice to see what can be worked out prior to the conference.
Yes, you are still a participant in the conference, and we hope you will join us there. However, the conference will not count towards certification.
We will not be accepting videos for physical skills demonstrations. We did that in the past during extreme times. It is not a sustainable way to assess the physical skills of trainers. Testing will be done in person between lunchtime and 4pm.
